Pioneering healthcare excellence: Advanced Health Day Hospitals becomes the only day hospital group on the continent to receive a prestigious international quality standard 
Advanced Health Group of Day Hospitals has achieved a groundbreaking milestone, becoming the first hospital group in Africa—and the only day hospital group on the continent—to receive ISO 7101 certification from British Standards Institution (BSI).
The internationally recognised healthcare management standard represents a significant advancement in the quality of care delivered across Advanced Health Group.
Global Benchmark for Healthcare Excellence
ISO 7101 is a comprehensive global standard designed specifically for healthcare organisations, with core focus areas including:
- Patient-centred care delivery
- Strong governance frameworks
- Risk management protocols
- Continuous quality improvement
“This achievement marks a significant step forward in our ongoing commitment to quality, patient safety, and excellence in care delivery,” said Bibi Goss-Ross, Managing Director of Advanced Health Group. “It reflects not only strong systems and processes, but a deeply embedded culture of quality across our organisation.”
Recognition Earned During Demanding Period
The certification followed rigorous auditing of all hospitals and central office facilities, conducted during the high-pressure pre-festive season period. Despite the timing challenges, Advanced Health teams demonstrated exceptional professionalism and dedication throughout the intensive assessment process.
Goss-Ross gave special recognition to Group Clinical and Quality Manager, Sr. Anina de Bruyn, who spearheaded the ISO 7101 project. “Her leadership, skill, passion, and determination guided the organisation through every challenging phase and kept us focused on our goal,” she noted.
Hospital managers and department heads also received acknowledgement for ensuring audit readiness and consistent standards across all facilities.
Ongoing Commitment to Quality
The ISO 7101 certification requires ongoing compliance, with hospitals subject to regular inspections and random audits over the next three years to maintain the standard.
“This is not a once-off achievement—it is a commitment that continues,” Goss-Ross emphasised.
